We know this time of the year many people will start a new exercise kick, determined to get in the gym and shed those extra lbs. But we also know that for a sizeable proportion that resolution doesn’t stick. It’s too hard, or cold, or inconvenient, or it simply doesn’t work for them. There may also be health, physical or mental barriers to doing exercise the “traditional” way. That’s why at the Active Wellbeing Society we’re so proud to have an inclusive, open and FREE schedule of virtual wellbeing.

There’s something for everyone, and we’d love it if more people could join us. To that end we’re delighted to launch our Virtual Community mailing list. Anyone who signs up will be kept up to date with the schedule, how to access our activities, and of course with any special events we’re taking part in. Get in touch if you have any access or communication needs and we’ll do all we can to ensure you can be part of the Virtual Community at our activities and events.

All of our classes can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home, or why not join us as a group from your community centre, hospice or with a group of friends? All that’s required is for you to turn up and have a good time!

We have a public schedule of activities that run every week, open to all. Behind the scenes we also run activities for private groups. So if you are a community group and would like an activity available online, just for you then get in touch! Throughout the year we pop up with special live stream events, so be sure to follow us on social media so you don’t miss out!

NOTES: Our Virtual Wellbeing programme was initially developed at the start of 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. We dynamically shifted the delivery of much of our well-established community events to virtual platforms to ensure communities could remain active and connected during this difficult time. With involvement in impactful campaigns such as This Girl Can included in our work, the TAWS Virtual Wellbeing programme reached out at a time of great need.

Now most services have returned to in-person-only delivery, but we acknowledge that for many, face-to-face delivery was never right for their needs and for some, it’s about having a stepping stone before they can look to returning to the activities they enjoyed or would like to try. So, we’ve built in virtual delivery to the core of our offer and we’re looking at what we mean by ‘virtual wellbeing’ and growing and changing this again to fit the need.
