On Monday March 18th BVSC will be running the next event supporting the embedding of the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector into Birmingham and Solihull’s Integrated Care System (ICS). Love Food Hate Waste’s Food Waste Action Week takes place from 18 – 24 March with the theme “Choose What You’ll Use’. This year, Love Food Hate Waste is encouraging you to “Choose What You’ll Use” by buying your fruit and vegetables loose instead of packaged. Research from Love Food Hate Waste has shown that we could reduce food waste by 60,000 tonnes just by buying loose fruit and veg! Birmingham City Council issued a Section 114 notice on 5 September 2023 due to financial challenges. The notice was issued because the City Council cannot balance its 2024/ 2025 budget. Section 114 bans all Council spending apart from essential spend, protecting: vulnerable people, statutory services and pre-existing commitments.
