Welcome to BrumEnergy

BrumEnergy is a team of dedicated local organisations that is committed to delivering independent, high-quality home energy advice to Birmingham residents, FREE of charge.

Saturday 20th April 2024 was Earth Day, and Footsteps joined an event organised by Love Weoley Castle.

A lovely sunny day at Weoley Castle Square, with the cherry trees in full bloom. XR Samba Band adding rhythms. A large number of stalls from different organisations, who we networked with. We caught up with Eco Birmingham and the local MP, and made a new connection from a local church who were keen on the flash cards. Looking around the square, there were 200 – 300 people at the event, mostly families with children.

Overall the event was a success: at our Footsteps stall we had flash cards, a demonstration slow cooker, and information on energy saving from Brum Energy. Later, Toqueer took leaflets out around the event and had meaningful chats with attendees in this way, while Andrew manned the stall. Although the wind tried to blow our leaflets away, a kind punter came over and helped us retrieve things, and the sunshine helped bring lots of people out.

On the same day, Footsteps was also at the at the community opening event of St Paul’s Trust family hub in Balsall Heath.  It was a very lively and popular day with live music, bouncy castles, cricket and other activities for families.

The St Paul’s family hub is one of ten physical Family Hub locations across Birmingham, by the end of 2025 providing advice and practical support families.  Footsteps took their energy saving flash cards to the event, and ran an activity for children to plant up small flower pots with a variety of seeds.
