Groups can be tricky, and community groups even more so; people may not know each other and come from different backgrounds, the purpose may not be clear yet, members may not be confident or may have particular access needs, you might want to introduce an agenda or get some feedback, but you’re worried some people might take over or feelings run high.

This is a practical learning group, two sessions face to face and one on Zoom. It is for anyone who meets with citizens to understand what they need and what they want to do to make changes to things that are important to them and their communities. This will be particularly useful for participants from user-led groups who want to include every voice and will include time for you to test and tweak methods for your particular setting.

These sessions are:

Face to face on 16 and 23 April 9:30-12:45 and on zoom 7 May 9:30-11:30

This is for people working with communities in Birmingham. The Community Development Practice Hub aims to connect, inspire and upskill community development practitioners across Birmingham.

Booking does not necessarily guarantee you a place. We're trying to get a mix of organisations on the course and will confirm ASAP. But we will be planning more of these sessions along with other training and support for community development practitioners. If there are things you would like to see please email: [email protected]
