Latest Covid Vaccination resources available to download and share through your channels: Question and Answer Reassuring Reminder Winter Sun Hesitancy – addressing myths As many of you will know, there is much public commentary that Omicron is a milder disease and this narrative is now playing out in booster hesitancy. The reality is that those contracting Omicron who have been double vaccinated do experience mild symptoms as they have some antibody protection, however those who are not vaccinated are being hospitalised and the age profile is much younger than the first wave. NHS England have issued a warning (view here) to local media, which contains some useful stats and quotes. We have put together an A4 crib sheet to outline responses to current COVID-19 question, which we would recommend you share internally to your staff. You can also use this to answer public queries and the Q&As can be used on social media posts. We know the symptoms being commonly experienced are; Scratchy/sore throat Runny nose and sneezing Headache and muscle aches Fatigue/extreme tiredness NHS England Midlands team have given us permission to talk about these symptoms and recommend our clinician spokespeople emphasise these are the mild symptoms experience by those who have been vaccinated at some point. Information from BBC - Covid: Vaccine scams in South Asian languages As coronavirus vaccines are being rolled out across the UK, fraudsters are using this as an opportunity to scam people. The NHS is warning everyone to be vigilant about fake vaccination invitations. These scam emails, calls or texts often ask for personal and financial information, but the vaccine is free and the NHS would never ask for bank details. The National Cyber Security Centre and Action Fraud have asked anyone who receives a suspicious email or text to report it. BBC Asian Network is helping people in the South Asian community to spot potential scams, with advice videos in five South Asian languages: Urdu, Punjabi, Sylheti, Tamil and Gujarati. Read more The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport: Check before you share The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport is leading a campaign to help tackle the spread of false information about the COVID-19 vaccine. We have developed tailored social media posts fronted by trusted community members (faith leaders, clinicians and community leaders). These posts include simple tips on how to spot false information, critically analyse sources and stop its spread, signposting to the NHS as the most accurate source of information about the COVID19 vaccine. The key message is to check before you share. The intention of this toolkit is to empower people with the tools and knowledge they need to help counter false information within their communities. The National Lottery Community Fund Here's a helpful toolkit to talk to your community about vaccination Information from Crisis: Information for people experiencing homelessness We know there is a huge appetite across the sector to have trustworthy, accessible information for people experiencing homelessness who have either had the vaccine or are likely to be offered it soon. Using questions from a recent national peer network meeting, Groundswell have been gathering vaccine questions and answers from Professor Andrew Hayward, PHE, NHS England and more. News Articles BBC Asian Network creates new Coronavirus advice videos in South Asian languages to target vaccine disinformation BBC Asian Network is targeting disinformation and conspiracy theories surrounding the Covid-19 vaccines with a new series of videos in five different languages. The videos in Urdu, Punjabi, Sylheti, Gujarati and Tamil follow the success of the team’s Coronavirus advice videos during the first lockdown, which had more than a million views.The new series, explained by a mix of news reporters and medical experts, will be published weekly and target Asian people who struggle with English as their first language. Topics include England’s three-tier system, advice for high-risk groups, vaccine developments, looking after your mental health, and how test and trace works.Journalists Nalini Sivathasan and Sarika Unadkat are producing the videos as well as supplying an audio stream to 15 community radio stations in England, to ensure the messages are shared as widely as possible. The NHS is warning everyone to be vigilant about fake vaccination invitations. These scam emails, calls or texts often ask for personal and financial information, but the vaccine is free and the NHS would never ask for bank details. The National Cyber Security Centre and Action Fraud have asked anyone who receives a suspicious email or text to report it. BBC Asian Network is helping people in the South Asian community to spot potential scams, with advice videos in five South Asian languages: Urdu, Punjabi, Sylheti, Tamil and Gujarati. We have developed tailored social media posts fronted by trusted community members (faith leaders, clinicians and community leaders). These posts include simple tips on how to spot false information, critically analyse sources and stop its spread, signposting to the NHS as the most accurate source of information about the COVID19 vaccine. The key message is to check before you share. The intention of this toolkit is to empower people with the tools and knowledge they need to help counter false information within their communities.
