BVSC Research was commissioned by Autism West Midlands to evaluate the Teens Autism Confident programme. The Teens Autism Confident programme is aimed at supporting autistic teenagers to understand their condition and respond positively to it. This was built upon a previously successful course targeting adults, with the belief that encouraging autistic teenagers to feel more confident about being autistic can improve how they feel about themselves in teenage years and later in life. In recent years, the Human Learning Systems (HLS) approach (Lowe and Plimmer, 2019) has emerged as a challenge to established means of organising public services. Read more
During 2020 – 2021, BVSC Research, the Institute for Community Research & Development at the University of Wolverhampton, the University of Birmingham and Community Researchers from the USE-IT project formed the WMVRU evaluation partnership, offering evaluation and insight into the work of the VRU and the interventions funded and supported by the unit. GMCVO worked in partnership with Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN) and academics from Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) to conduct an evaluation of the Boom+ project. This project supports care leavers into volunteering activities and was developed based on a similar project in which GMYN worked with young people in care. Read more
BVSC Research was tasked with evaluating the role of BVSC as Strategic Partnership Managers for the West Midlands Housing First Programme and as the Project Manager of the Rough Sleepers Initiative in Birmingham. Birmingham City Council currently commission both functions. Read more
