St Thomas Community Project, Closing date: On Request

An exciting opportunity for a community development practitioner to join our small team, to continue our enabling and hosting of activities with older members of our local community.  We are looking to continue providing a safe place for older people to develop new activities that matter to them.   

Salary: Between £14 - £17 per hour depending upon experience.
Hours of work: 12 hours a week; currently between 9.15 and 3.15 on Thursdays and the rest flexibly to fulfil the role.

Job purpose:

To share the leadership of an established and successful strand of community outreach and development work with people aged 50 plus, working in partnership with one other experienced practitioner and a small team of volunteers.

To support and grow existing activities and events, identifying new opportunities to encourage over 50’s to participate in their local community, contributing to improved quality of life and creating connections that will sustain them in their everyday lives.

To connect with individuals to identify their personal skills, experience and interests and encourage them to become assets within the local community enabling them to make their contribution well.

To collaborate with other local organisations, community activists, health professionals and community support workers to maximise the impact we have for local older people.

The successful candidate will have sympathy with the aims and ethos of St Thomas’ church and community project and will be subject to references and an advanced DBS check.
