Urban Wellbeing Futures Story Competition

Alongside the University of Birmingham’s Centre for Urban Wellbeing, BVSC Research ran an ‘Urban Futures Story Competition’.

The competition asked entrants to create short story, in written or spoken word, which imagined a city of the future which is more sustainable, equitable and just. Authors of the winning entries were presented with their prizes at the Birmingham Settlement Neighbourhoods Festival, held at the recently developed Nature and Wellbeing Centre in Edgbaston (Selwyn Road).

Stop Loan Sharks has been around for 20 years, fighting illegal money lending and supporting borrowers. Every year we organise a campaign week to highlight the work we have been doing with our many partners. This year’s theme is to highlight that there is ‘No Blame, No Shame’ for anyone who has borrowed from a loan shark. From our research we have found that many borrowers don’t try to find help until 2 years after they first take out a loan from an illegal lender.
