BVSC welcomes three new Board Members

BVSC is delighted to welcome three new trustees to its board following an open recruitment process in December.

Joining the Trustee Board are Junaid Akhtar who has a passion for serving the community, with a particular focus on underrepresented communities, Ajit Singh Ubhi of Nishkam Civic Association and Andy Cave of Healthwatch Birmingham & Solihull.

Andy Cave (pictured) said “I am delighted to have been appointed as a trustee for BVSC and look forward to supporting the next chapter of the BVSC journey. I have always worked in the voluntary sector and know the important role the VCFSE sector brings to the city for its diverse residents. I am passionate about ensuring the most vulnerable in society have the skills, resource and power to achieve their goals and dreams, ensuring effective citizen involvement to ensure services are designed and commissioned to meet their needs.

“There are always challenging times for the VCFSE sector, but now more than ever there are huge challenges for the sector and local people. BVSC plays a vital role to champion and support the innovative work needed through the sector to enable our local communities to thrive. I look forward to working with as many people as possible in this new role.”

Awareness Ambassador

As an Awareness Ambassador, you can play an important role in increasing awareness of diabetes locally and online. You will support Diabetes UK campaigns by taking leaflets and posters along to local community venues such as libraries and community centres and like and share on our social media.

Events volunteers help raise awareness of diabetes and Diabetes UK at events around Leicestershire. Events volunteers talk to members of the public in a friendly and enthusiastic manner to raise awareness of diabetes and Diabetes UK, offer appropriate Diabetes UK materials and answer general queries.
