BVSC are establishing a network for members across Birmingham who have an interest in employment and training.

BVSC is working in partnership with Birmingham City Council and this Network will have the opportunity to inform an emerging programme of economic recovery locally. Over the series of webinars representatives of BCC will attend and listen to our discussions and present information on local developments including local arrangements to support organisations interested in the Kickstart programme.

We want to invite organisations that with an interest in employment and training services to join a series of conversations via webinar. The webinars will:

  • Highlight contract and funding opportunities
  • Foster collaboration amongst our members
  • Uncover and address capacity and other development priorities
  • Have guest speakers from projects, funders and commissioners
  • Be guided by the network to cover other topics

Even if your organisation doesn’t directly deliver employment and skills related services as a primary service, it is often interconnected with other services such as crime reduction, health and wellbeing, support for young people and older adults.

There are significant national programmes and local opportunities for all organisations to be aware of and potentially plug into – DWP contracts, Kickstart, Apprenticeships, HS2, Birmingham 2022, Economic recovery etc.

Our first four sessions will focus on:

Weds 7 April 1-2pm: Overview of current employment and skills provision (mainstream and local) – Where do we fit in
Weds 14 April 1-2pm: Local projects – developing capacity to deliver, develop and improve
Weds 21 April 1-2pm: Kickstart support – Listen to Birmingham City Council’s approach to kickstart along with others supporting the initiative
Weds 28 April 1-2pm: Case studies of local providers delivering employability support

Subsequent topics will be determined as part of our discussions in the webinars.

To register on this series of webinars please visit our training pages from Monday 22nd March.
