A wide range of sports equipment used by teams and athletes across all of the venues during the Commonwealth Games will be gifted to local sport and community groups across the West Midlands (Birmingham, Black Country, Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire, Hereford and Worcestershire, Shropshire, and Staffordshire). We can officially announce today, in join-up with the Birmingham 2022 organisers and the Department for Digital, Culture Media & Sport (DCMS), over 16,000 sports items.

We are open to applications as of today (15th) up until Monday the 19th September. Applications will be peer reviewed by a wide group of not only SE staff but alongside a range of Birmingham community voices who have been involved in the process. With applicants to be notified and able to collect their “lots” from w/c 10th October. To ensure communities receive the maximum benefit from this arrangement, please find attached a collated catalogue of ‘community equipment lots’ for community organisations to bid for. There are two ways in which you can apply:

  • Written applications and the link to apply is here
  • Video/Audio applications and the link to apply is here

I also attach a guidance document and FAQs which will support any queries you may have whilst applying. Throughout the design and engagement process we involved a variety of local voices across the West Midlands and NGBs. With the aim to make the process as accessible as possible. So we have looked to remove some of the flagged barriers to application and share the Guidance introduction in up to 15 different languages.

So we ask you to help us sign post as far and wide across your West Midlands networks please for community organisations to apply and make full use of the exciting opportunity.
