Addressing Housing Issues in our Communities: Small Grants Funding Opportunity

In June BVSC launched a new small grants fund open to voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector organisations that are supporting their community in and around specific geographic areas in Birmingham: Erdington, Handsworth and Sparkhill. This funding is aimed at organisations who have identified housing issues such as poor housing or homelessness in the communities they support. Shelter is looking to invest up to £40,000 in grant awards of up to £5,000.

This opportunity closed to applications on 31^st August 2023. We are currently assessing the applications received and will provide an update on this page once this process is complete and all applicants have been notified of their application outcome.

Could you write to your local MP or Councillor to promote our health economics research? The analysis found with that every 1 million people who switch to a vegan diet would generate an estimated £121 million of health care cost savings. We would love support in highlighting this to government.

Stop Loan Shark Week 2024 - No Blame No Shame Campaign

Stop Loan Sharks has been around for 20 years, fighting illegal money lending and supporting borrowers. Every year we organise a campaign week to highlight the work we have been doing with our many partners. This year’s theme is to highlight that there is ‘No Blame, No Shame’ for anyone who has borrowed from a loan shark. From our research we have found that many borrowers don’t try to find help until 2 years after they first take out a loan from an illegal lender.
