Support your local community and the NHS

Do you understand what’s important to the people in your local community who use NHS services in Birmingham and Solihull? Could you spare the time to pass this on and help us to improve our services?

If so, University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) is looking for people to put themselves forward to become a governor.

UHB is the home of Good Hope Hospital, Heartlands Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and Solihull Hospital and is recognised as one of the leading NHS hospital trusts in the UK.

Being a governor an important role and one in which you can play a key part in supporting your local NHS.

If you’re interested in standing for election as a governor, you can put yourself forward from 09 April until 08 May.

UHB has 12 vacancies across 11 constituencies in this year’s election, including: Solihull and Meriden; Sutton Coldfield North; Quinton, Halesowen and Southwest; Birmingham Southwest; Birmingham Heartlands; Birmingham West; Birmingham Reservoirs; Birmingham Central; Lichfield Northwest and Northeast; Tamworth; and Rest of England and Wales.

Dame Yve Buckland, Chair of UHB, said: “Our governors are absolutely crucial to us at UHB; they play an important role in ensuring that local people and patients have their voices heard, to help us improve our services.

To be eligible to stand for election, individuals must live in the one of the constituencies areas listed below and be a member of UHB.

Events volunteers talk to members of the public in a friendly and enthusiastic manner to raise awareness of diabetes and Diabetes UK, offer appropriate Diabetes UK materials and answer general queries.
Birmingham Hospice Charity Shops - Volunteer Vacancies

Volunteers needed at Birmingham Hospice retail stores. We have 21 shops and are always in need of volunteers.

Arabic Speakers wanted as Volunteer Educational Mentors

Are you an Arabic Speaker? Do you want to help young refugees in helping them learn English? Apply with us We're actively recruiting volunteers in Birmingham to become mentors, committing one hour per week for a minimum of six months to provide educational support in subjects like English GCSE, ESOL, and Maths in supporting young refugees and asylum seekers (age 14 - 25) in their education.
Join GoodGym Birmingham for a Litter Pick on the Canal

GoodGym is a group that combines physical activity with doing good. We have group runs and Community Missions. On Tuesday 30th April we will be meeting at 1000 Trades in the Jewellery Quarter and then heading to the nearby canal to do a litter pick. There is an option to run to the canal and then do a little run after or you are also more than welcome to walk.
