Closing Date: Monday 6th July. Hours: Up to 16 hours per week Responsible to: Life Skills Coordinator Purpose of the RoleTo support individuals experiencing addiction, mental health challenges, offending histories, or social exclusion to develop practical life skills, improve wellbeing, and increase independence. Key Duties Support clients to develop budgeting, money management, and financial resilience skills. Deliver practical cooking sessions, teaching clients how to prepare healthy, nutritious meals on a budget. Teach meal planning, shopping skills, food hygiene, and batch cooking techniques to promote independent living and reduce food costs. Encourage and support attendance at recovery groups, wellbeing activities, training opportunities, and community events. Provide peer mentoring and encouragement, drawing upon lived experience where appropriate to inspire hope and positive change. Support clients in developing and reviewing individual support plans and care plans, ensuring goals are regularly monitored and updated. Signpost and refer clients to appropriate services, including housing, healthcare, benefits, education, employment, and specialist support agencies. Assist clients to develop essential life skills, including time management, organisation, maintaining appointments, and managing a tenancy. Support clients with completing forms, benefit applications, CVs, job searches, and accessing volunteering or employment opportunities. Promote positive mental health, wellbeing, recovery, and social inclusion through one-to-one and group-based support. Maintain accurate and timely records of client engagement, progress, and outcomes using the Redcap system. Ensure client information, assessments, support plans, and case notes on Redcap are regularly reviewed and updated in line with organisational procedures. Work collaboratively with internal staff and external partner agencies to ensure clients receive coordinated support. Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, training, and continuous professional development activities. Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and safeguarding responsibilities always. Act as a positive role model, demonstrating recovery-focused values and promoting personal responsibility and independence. Person Specification Essential Good communication and listening skills. Ability to build positive relationships. Understanding of addiction, recovery, mental health, or social exclusion. Reliable and trustworthy. Basic IT skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Desirable Lived experience of recovery or overcoming personal challenges. Experience volunteering or supporting vulnerable adults. Knowledge of local support services.
