What is the programme?

PET-Xi Training, in partnership with Applebough Education, is running a fully funded 3 week Teaching Support Roles programme in Coventry and Birmingham. The programme is designed to get motivated, work-ready clients and participants into employment as Teaching Assistants in local schools.

There is no cost to the learner. At the end of the programme every learner has a guaranteed job interview with Applebough Education.

The programme runs from 9:30 to 2:30 to fit around childcare commitments. The final programme is starting on Monday 29th June.

Who is it for?

The programme is open to clients and participants who are:

• Aged 19 or over as of 31 August 2025
• Living in the WMCA area (Coventry, Birmingham, Sandwell, Dudley, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Solihull)
• Unemployed or economically inactive
• OR on Universal Credit with take-home pay below £952/month (sole adult claim) or £1,534/month (joint claim)
• Have the right to work and lawful residency in the UK

What does the programme involve?

• Monday to Friday, 3 weeks full time all online
• Covers safeguarding, SEN, child development, behaviour support, CV writing, and interview preparation
• Includes the Highfields Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People — a nationally recognised qualification • Includes Prevent (ACT) certification
• Enhanced DBS application initiated and funded during the programme
• Job interview with Applebough Education in Week 3
