The Community Development Practice Hub is a resource for people and organisations who ‘work with’ people in Birmingham, supporting them to take collective action to make changes to things that are important to them and their communities. It aims to connect, inspire and upskill community development practitioners across Birmingham.

The hub is funded by Birmingham City Council, led by BVSC and supported by Thrive Together Birmingham.

Summary

In the past, services and programmes were often developed and delivered without meaningful input from the people they set out to help. But there has been a growing realisation that this can make services impersonal and inflexible. Taking part in co-production can have a powerful impact, increasing self-worth and confidence. The National Lottery Community Fund has made significant, long-term, strategic investments in five programmes to address some of the challenges and transitions people face in their lives. Fifty-eight local partnerships across England have worked closely with the people their services are intended for, to design and deliver their work. This report looks across all five programmes to examine how this commitment to co-production has worked in practice.

RNIB survey for people with one or more eye conditions

In new research which RNIB are conducting around the rising cost of living, we are running a survey to gain the feedback of blind and partially sighted people to inform this work and allow us to speak to decision makers. The survey covers important topics such as heating and energy, food and essentials and the additional costs of having sight loss. The survey should take around 20 minutes to complete, though you can take as long as you need, and answers are optional.

Veolia's Sustainability Fund is open! The Fund supports projects that positively impact local areas and deliver long-term social and environmental benefits. The Fund aims to empower communities to take positive action in their local area. The Fund provides cash grants up to £1,000 per project.
