    Our Year 10 pupils (aged 14 and 15) are looking for local opportunities to volunteer and learn about how different organisations are run. This helps develop their confidence and employability skills required for future employment. This is for 4 days Monday 18th to Thursday 21st July 2022.

    Volunteer Independent Visitor for National Youth Advocacy Service (NYAS)

    An Independent Visitor is a volunteer who befriends and develops a long-term friendship with a young person in care. This can involve helping young people develop new interests, skills and hobbies or going on outings such as to the cinema, bowling or just a walk in the park. The volunteers are called ‘Independent Visitors’ because they are a truly ‘independent’ person outside the care system giving the young person continuity, which is something not always possible with changing carers.

    We are Action for Children - London Independent Visitors Scheme, a project run by Action for Children. We are a national Charity and we work with Looked-After Children for some UK local authorities place across the country.

    We are recruiting for a Independent visitors (Volunteers) and in the Birmingham and West Midland area, Black and ethnic minority Independent visitor are welcome to apply.
