Time: 09:45 – 15:30 (registration from 09:15)
Venue: To be confirmed, Birmingham

Birmingham is working with the Institute of Health Equity to apply the Marmot approach to Health Equity across the city. This event will shape how we work together on our shared ambition to tackle health inequalities.

Across the city, we know that there is great work being done to improve the lives of citizens, develop our economy, reduce inequality, and bring our communities together to enjoy all of the benefits that Birmingham has to offer. The day will bring together partners from across health, local government, the VCFSE sector, business, anchor institutions and communities to:

  • Explore what it means for Birmingham to take a Marmot approach and become a WHO Healthy City
  • Develop a shared understanding and language for health equity
  • Identify how we work together across systems, places and communities
  • Help shape and name Birmingham’s approach to Health Equity and Inclusion
  • Launch the Birmingham Health Equity Network

 Event highlights include:

  • Keynote presentations on the Marmot approach and its relevance for Birmingham
  • A panel discussion on tackling health inequalities with partners and community representatives
  • Interactive workshops focused on partnership, prevention and community involvement
  • Networking, mapping of current activity and a collective vote the name of the health equity movement
  • Your experience, insight and leadership are critical to shaping a successful Healthy Equity approach for Birmingham, and we very much hope you can join us. This is the first in a series of conversations and network meetings to collaborate, share best practice, align work and create a health equity movement across the city.
