We are recruiting for a cook for our Dementia Centres based around the city, to prepare high-quality, nutritious meals whilst ensuring a safe and clean kitchen environment. 

The position is Monday to Friday 9.30am to 2.00pm (25 hours per week)

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Plan, prepare, and cook well-balanced and appetising meals for clients, taking into consideration any dietary restrictions or special requirements.
2. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen, including proper food handling, storage, and hygiene practices.
3. Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels of food and kitchen supplies, placing orders as needed and keeping track of inventory.
4. Assist in menu planning, cost control, and budget management in liaison with the Finance manager.
5. Address any concerns or issues related to the kitchen promptly
6. Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other relevant gatherings as required.
7. Comply with BIA policies and procedures.

We are looking for someone with the following skills and abilities:

1. Good level of written and oral communication skills
2. Strong organisational skills
3. Good level of planning and decision-making skills
4. Ability to work effectively as a team player in a collaborative and supportive manner
5. Proven cooking experience with the ability to prepare a variety of dishes
6. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
7. Experience working in a kitchen or similar environment
8. Knowledge of diverse cuisines, with a preference for familiarity with Irish cuisine

The successful applicant would be confident, able to work on their own initiative and under pressure. They will be given responsibility for the kitchen and its equipment and stock so excellent hygiene practices and cleanliness are essential.
