RoomSponsor week commences Monday 18th March. It is an opportunity for YMCA’s signed up to the RoomSponsor partnership to promote the role that local communities can play in supporting young people locally to have a safe place to call home. As a YMCA RoomSponsor you could give young people in Birmingham a safe place and the tools to change their lives. Each week, more than 100 people in Birmingham do not have a safe place to stay.

“Will you help me find a place?”
At the age of just 16, Lucy found herself homeless. With the help of YMCA, Lucy was provided with a warm place to stay, emotional support and the tools to learn life skills so she could cook, manage her money and make her way back into college. Lucy was able to overcome the trauma she had endured and now dreams of becoming a YMCA support worker to help young people just like her.
Can you help young people like Lucy living at YMCA Sutton Coldfield by becoming a RoomSponsor?

Without a place to stay, it’s hard to find a place in the world. By sponsoring a room, you can help young people in need find both. As a YMCA RoomSponsor you could give young people a safe place and the tools they need to change their lives. A safe, nurturing environment where they can thrive. With the tailored support they need to find the confidence and break the cycle of homelessness.

Rachel Dutta Choudhury, Bid Writing, Fundraising and Development Manager said; “At YMCA Sutton Coldfield we provide not only a safe place for young people to stay but a home. Sometimes there is nowhere else for young people to go. Without stable accommodation it’s impossible for young people to move forward with their lives. That’s why living here at YMCA Sutton Coldfield and being supported to build independent living skills is such a vital steppingstone in the journey of the young people we work with”.
