Xpress-Yourself Dance, Trustees Xpress-Yourself is a dance company specialising in working with older adults across the West Midlands. Currently run under the umbrella as Sole Trader, Xpress-Yourself will be moving to a Community Interest Company and are seeking two members on a voluntary basis to join their board. Passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of older adults Xpress-Yourself delivers weekly dance classes and delivers workshops in care homes and dementia cafes. Starting at a zero basis in 2013, the organisation has grown significantly and is now currently looking to drive the organisation forward and make it more sustainable after a difficult year with the challenges of COVID-19. Prior to the pandemic were supporting on average 120 dancers per week at our Keep Dancing classes and regularly working in care homes, dementia cafes and hospitals. Supporting several local community dance artists. During the pandemic we continued to run our Keep Dancing classes online and supported an average of 40 dancers per week. With falls costings the NHS an estimated £2.3 million per year Xpress-Yourself supports older adults as part of their Keep Dancing classes to keep strong and steady. Furthermore, our dance classes provide opportunity to combat social isolation. Our work in care homes, Dementia cafes and hospitals has achieved breakthrough moments with people who living with disabilities, and dementia and ensured that they feel a valued member of our community. As Xpress-Yourself transitions to become a Community Interest Company we are seeking someone with the skills and commitment to provide leadership into the future. The role requires experience and skills in business development and planning, financial acumen and an understanding of the challenges facing any small business seeking to grow. Prior experience within the adult social care sector or in a governance role would be preferred but is not an essential requirement. Regular time commitment is required for preparation & attendance at board meetings and progress meetings with the Operations Manager.
