Did you know there are around 2.4 million adults in England alone who can barely read or cannot read at all. In practical terms this means that they would struggle to read road signs, household bills, menus in restaurants or letters from their childrens' school.

All over the country, Read Easy groups provide free 1-2-1 tuition for adults who want help learning to read. At Read Easy Birmingham South West, we're looking for volunteers to join our friendly Management Team. We're a newly formed group, established in January 2022, and are looking for self-motivated, organised volunteers who want to make a real difference to the lives of local adults who struggle with reading.

As Literacy Specialist, you'll play a key part in the group, providing support with literacy issues to the Coordinator and Reading Coaches and assisting in the running of Reading Coach meetings. The person who takes on this role should have experience of teaching literacy (preferably, but not necessarily with adults).

We meet monthly in south-west Birmingham, usually on a Saturday morning, but other than that you're free to fulfill your volunteer role from home as and when suits you.

If you have any questions please get in touch.
