Strike-A-Chord is a fun-filled project in which the Over-50's learn how to play the keyboard. We are in need of individuals who can assist with setting up the venue for each coaching session.

Isolation and loneliness are two of the fiercest challenges our ageing population face. Using the power of music, Strike-A-Chord enables the Over-50's and Over-60's overcome these challenges by teaching them how to play the keyboard. Additionally, this uplifting experience fosters togetherness and social interaction.

We conduct Strike-A-Chord sessions in various locations across Birmingham. Thus, we don't have a fixed location. A session has a duration of one hour and would typically have between 3 - 5 participants.

Even though a keyboard is light in weight and can be easily carried by a 60-year old, we still need dedicated individuals who will help remove the keyboards from their cases and position them on the keyboard stands. We also need assistance with arranging the seats and someone willing to welcome these precious Over-50's with a warm heart and smile.

Does this sound like something you can do?

In addition to being part of this uplifting experience, the beaming smiles and youthful vibrance you observe in these precious people, can last you a lifetime!

You will not be expected to attend or serve at every session. However, we would expect that, whenever your schedule permits, you will avail yourself for this life-enriching project.

We are hoping to build a team of dedicated, affectionate and wholehearted individuals to be our Event Assistants and it would be nice to have you as part of our team.

Age Requirements? Whether you are a young person who has a desire to serve the community or a senior citizen who wants to stay busy and enjoys interacting with people, this opportunity is open to all.

Closing Date? This is a growing and continuous need. Hence, we have no closing date. In fact, we are in need of people who can start right away! We had the maiden edition of Strike-A-Chord on July 13 2022 in Erdington and the demand for our sessions (in other parts of Birmingham) is already soaring.
