We are looking for a volunteer driver to support the packing and assembly team with the collection and delivery of goods and products.

Better Pathways has been supporting people with poor mental health and with learning disabilities and difficulties to volunteer on our therapeutic work programme since 1963. We have a dedicated, professional team working alongside our 100+ volunteers in a safe, supported space, growing their skills, confidence and self-esteem,

Role Description

As a member of the team you will have access to a large van and will be responsible for collecting goods and products from our customers and returning these once packing and assembly has been completed.

Your supervisor will pre-plan the delivery schedule and with the support of others in the team, goods and products will be assembled on pallets, shrink-wrapped and loaded into the van. Upon delivery, you will be requested to obtain a signature on the delivery notes, which must be returned to the office. You may be required to unload and load goods at the customer end, manual handling training will be provided by us.

You will need to be physically fit and active for this driver role as you will be required to lift heavy items in and out of the vehicle.

Successful volunteers must hold a full, clean UK driving license and comply with the Highway Code.

Essential Criteria

  • Must be 21 years and older
  • Ability to volunteer flexible hours (Mon to Fri, 8am – 3pm)
  • A full, clean UK driving license
  • Experience of driving box van or similar sized vehicles
  • Hold a UK driving license for a minimum of 2 years
