Vision Care for Homeless People (VCHP) is a charity that provides free eye tests and glasses to homeless and vulnerable people in a welcoming environment. The VCHP clinic in Birmingham is looking to recruit a Volunteer Clinic Manager/Assistant.

You do not need any experience in an opticians for this role. We will provide full training. Each clinic session has a qualified volunteer optometrist who undertakes the sight tests. As a clinic manager or assistant, you would support the optometrist on duty. You will learn all the procedures for running a clinic, greet and register patients and help them to choose frames. You will learn to use our online patient management system to dispense and order glasses.

Our opticians runs from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm on Mondays and has a fully equipped eye test room at SIFA Fireside Homeless Day Centre, 48-52 Allcock Street, Birmingham, B9 4DY. You need to be 18 for this role and able to commit to regular Monday sessions. You do not need to be optically trained for this role, simply organised, efficient and willing to learn.

VCHP will pay travel expenses.
