Volunteer Recruitment and Learning Officer

Fixed term contract (maternity cover) – 8 months

The National Deaf Children’s Society is the leading charity dedicated to creating a world without barriers for deaf children and young people.

We are looking for an experienced Volunteer Recruitment and Learning Officer to join our friendly, dynamic volunteering team. Supporting a range of volunteer programmes across the UK, you will advertise and promote volunteering opportunities and recruit and induct suitable volunteers at a time of growth and change for the organisation.

Your role is essential in ensuring we get the right people to volunteer for us and they are safe and prepared to volunteer with children, young people and their families. This includes attracting, interviewing and assessing potential volunteers, developing training sessions, and ensuring volunteers complete induction and learning activities. You will also maintain and update processes to continually improve the delivery of our programmes.

The successful applicant will be an excellent communicator with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with staff and volunteers. You need to be committed to good practice in volunteering and adult learning, to help ensure that volunteers improve the services we offer and meet the needs of deaf children, young people and families at events. You will be well organised and able to work in a team to manage a busy workload. The ability to process large volumes of data is critical, together with excellent attention to detail. You will communicate with deaf and hearing volunteers remotely and in person, as well as providing advice and guidance to all departments that involve volunteers.

To apply for this role, you will have to complete an online application and specify how you meet the person specification criteria, as outlined in the job description.

Currently, the application process works best on desktop/laptop devices.

The closing date for applications is on Thursday, 22 August 2019 at 23:59

We expect interviews to be held in Birmingham on Monday 2nd or Tuesday 3rd September 2019

A disclosure check will be sought in relation to the successful applicant for this post. This will be shared with Human Resources and may also be shared with the Safeguarding Manager and the relevant management team. All applicants must also complete a self-disclosure form.
We strive to provide an accessible recruitment process.
