Tabor House Caseworker

Tabor House is Birmingham’s permanent night shelter providing temporary overnight accommodation and holistic support for people living on the streets.  The project uses a strength-based approach to work with guests to enable them to move towards meaningful independent living.  The staff team is made up of a Full-time Project Manager, and a part-time volunteer coordinator supporting over 80 regular volunteers.

You will work with individual guests providing appropriate advice and guidance enabling them to move forward with their life.  Encouraging guests to take practical steps, such as securing relevant documentation, employment and accommodation where appropriate to enable them to achieve self-selected goals and move out of Tabor House to sustainable independent living.  You will work with the volunteer coordinator to recruit new volunteer mentors and provide ongoing support and training to the volunteer mentors and guests.  Required to work on a flexible basis – occasional early mornings, evenings and weekends.

An Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service will be requested by FHS if appointed.
