Advice and Advocacy Worker (OISC level 1)
12 month fixed term contract from October 2019
An exciting opportunity has arisen, as a result of new funding, to join our team at ASIRT. We are looking for an OISC accredited Immigration Advice Worker (who is already accredited at level one or above) to make a significant contribution to the lives of people who are subject to immigration control in Birmingham.
We welcome applicants with a strong commitment to promoting rights across a range of areas. The post holder will undertake direct, specialist immigration advice and hold a caseload. They will also act as a resource to generalist agencies to support their staff to identify rights for clients subject to immigration control to support clients to access key health, welfare rights, housing and homeless prevention, education, employment, social support, immigration rights and other opportunities. The postholder will have a focus on supporting clients to avoid destitution and homelessness.
We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate with experience and existing level one accreditation( oisc) as a minimum and we will support them to achieve level 2.
We are looking for a highly motivated, candidate. You will have a commitment to equality and justice, will understand the impact of asylum and immigration laws on adults, young people and families, and will value and promote the rights of asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable migrants.
We are looking for someone with experience of safeguarding.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all convictions, spent or unspent must be declared. An Enhanced DBS check will be undertaken.
