We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who could spend time helping to maintain our gardens at our main hospice sites in Selly Park and Erdington. You will be part of a team of volunteers who will be on hand to support the day-to-day upkeep of our garden spaces, ensuring that they remain a bright, calm and tranquil place for our patients, families, visitors, staff and volunteers to relax and reflect.

We have green spaces across both hospices, each with their own unique style and purpose. Whilst some of these areas are well established, others are blank canvasses with a great potential.

We are looking for volunteers with all levels of experience, from the truly ‘green-fingered’ to those who just fancy trying a volunteering role with a difference. Our Gardening Volunteer role is a great way to share your love for gardening – and pick up some ideas of your own!

Roles and tasks include…

- General garden maintenance using tools provided.
- Lawn mowing and edging.
- Litter picking to keep paths clear.
- Cutting back and trimming of shrubs and bushes on the grounds.
- Leaf collection, planting and maintaining flower baskets and planters,
- Assisting with seasonal planting and future development of the garden within budgetary constraints.
- Painting in garden areas such as fences, benches, sheds, and grab rails.
- Engaging with users of the gardens including patients, visitors and corporate gardening volunteers to respond to enquiries.

Ideally a minimum of 4 hours per week, roles available Monday to Friday.
