Could you give time each week to make a telephone call to someone in the community to help them be less isolated who has a visual impairment?

Purpose of Role
As a Telephone Befriender Volunteer at Focus Birmingham, you would help support people with sight loss to overcome feelings of isolation by providing them with regular telephone chats.
The aim is to build relationships where people with sight loss are given the opportunity to connect with others in a confidential and non-judgemental atmosphere.

The role is home-based with the potential to volunteer from our main office in Harborne in the future.
You will be required to use your own telephone, but guidance will be given on protecting your privacy and expenses will be reimbursed.

About you
• You will have a good understanding or empathy for those with a visual impairment
• You will be a trustworthy, reliable, friendly, and sociable
• You will have the willingness to commit to regularly calls
• You will take part in team meetings and any regular training required for the role
