We are looking for a group support Volunteer for our Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub service in Solihull. The time commitment required is 2-3 hours per week on either Tuesday 10am - 12pm, or Thursday 1pm - 3pm.

Our Mental Health and Wellbeing hub is now open to residents in Solihull with severe and enduring mental health needs. We are looking for volunteers to support our expansion into the Solihull area. Initially the role will be available at Three Trees community centre in Chelmsley Wood and the Solihull United Reform Church. You will be volunteering alongside one of our Recovery Navigators.

The Group Support Volunteer role will involve planning and preparing group activities and facilitating services alongside a member of the staff team. Where appropriate volunteers will have the opportunity to take the lead role in the planning and facilitation of group activities. Activities can be varied and may involve supporting in social groups, creative / therapeutic activities or activities focused on promoting positive mental health and wellbeing. Where possible group activities will be adjusted to meet the needs of the individuals taking part.

Volunteers will be responsible for welcoming individuals into the session, encouraging them to engage in the activity and supporting in the facilitation of the activity. Volunteers will gain hands on experience of supporting individuals with mental health needs and the reward of seeing individuals engage and benefit the activity.

To support you in your role you will be offered training and regular supervision with an assigned supervisor. You will also be given a reference to support any future applications for work or voluntary positions.

Volunteer duties:
- Welcome individuals into the service and complete necessary sign in procedures.
- Prepare and set up activity spaces ahead of time.
- Facilitate group activities encouraging all individuals to engage in the session.
- Listen non-judgmentally to individuals and offer advice and signposting as appropriate.
- To raise any concerns, particularly around safety of the individuals accessing our services, to a member of the
staff team.
- To support with any general admin duties, preparing materials for sessions, answering telephone calls, queries or
completing referral forms.
- Offer light refreshments and create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
