Radio Lollipop is an independent charity based within Birmingham Children's Hospital, with 45 years' experience of providing a radio and play service for children in hospital.  We offer evening sessions (currently a Wednesday with a view to expanding to a Monday), with volunteers visiting the wards to play; offering all kinds of fun things to do including art, craft, balloons, stories, games and much more.  We also have a radio studio which broadcasts live shows, the children can interact with.

Volunteering with Radio Lollipop is something special. A volunteer recently said "when I saw the reaction on the child's face when she heard her name on the radio it was magical, she was so delighted it was her name and they were playing her song". Radio Lollipop is focussed on the child, their siblings and families and uses play to relieve boredom and pain, provide distraction, fun, laughter and improve well being. We also provide some much needed down time for families and support the ward staff where we can.

We would love you to come and join the fun!

The Birmingham team is looking for passionate and committed volunteers who can commit to a 2-3 hour shift per week and work as part of a team.

These posts are subject to an enhanced DBS police check and applicants must be over 18 years old.
