The Bike Project, Closing date: On Request

As Programme Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination of bike donations, ensuring a continuous flow of bikes out to our recipients.

About us

Founded in 2013, our mission is simple – to match up refugees and people seeking asylum with the thousands of abandoned and unwanted bikes in the UK.

Having fled persecution and war, people arriving in the UK and seeking asylum are banned from working and must live off £6.43 a day, and people who are lucky enough to receive refugee status often face unemployment.

About the role

This role is offered at 37.5 hours per week on a flexible and hybrid basis, with a minimum of 2 days per week onsite.

The primary aim of this role is to take a lead in advancing our charitable mission of helping refugees and people seeking asylum (throughout the UK) access the benefits of cycling and bike ownership. Last year, the charity donated bikes to over 2000 refugees and people seeking asylum.

As Programme Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination of bike donations, ensuring a continuous flow of bikes out to our recipients. You will lead our 'Roadshow' scheme, coordinating the effort to take our work to new areas of the UK. Your role will also encompass supervision of our 'after-care' services for existing bike recipients, doing what we can to keep our community on the road.

The Bike Project has recently gone through a period of organisational change. Working alongside the Head of Process & Delivery, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of new and innovative operational initiatives within your area of work. Adaptability and pragmatism are imperative in navigating the day-to-day challenges of delivering this programme.

Success will be assessed against a series of KPIs – some of which are currently in place, others will be shaped and developed as you progress in the role.

The Bike Project offers a flexible approach to the working week and this role is hybrid at 37.5 hrs p/w Monday-Friday, with an expectation of at least 2 days per week at our West Midlands workshop.
