Person Centred Counsellor

Open Door Counselling is recruiting 2 Part-Time Person-Centred Counsellors to work with clients aged 12-25.

Salary: £15 288 per annum (pro-rata) competitive holiday allowance

Hours: Part-Time: 21 hours per week. Working pattern to be negotiated but will include a
combination of day and some evening working (finishing by 9 pm)

Location: Edgbaston, Birmingham

Reporting to: Chief Executive

Responsible for: Delivering One to One Counselling to Children and Young People Aged 12-25

Contract: Fixed-term for 8 months with possibility of extension (From August 2021)

Since this time we have offered high quality, well respected, compassionate, person-centred counselling to children, young people and adults across the City and beyond. We are passionate about enabling our clients to explore their thoughts, feelings and emotions and make positive changes, to create better outcomes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Counsellor to work as part of children and young peoples counselling service, commissioned by the NHS.

This provision offers free at the point of access one to one counselling for children and young people aged 12-25. The post holder will be required to deliver one to one (face to face) counselling to clients experiencing a range of mental health difficulties including, emotional distress, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and working with those who self-harm and/or have suicidal thoughts/feelings.

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate, empathic, sensitive and experienced counsellor, with a passion for making a difference and someone who is able to work within a team as well as independently.

Applicants are required to have a Graduate Diploma or a Degree in therapeutic counselling (Person-Centred or Integrative) and have a minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience of working as a Child and Young Persons Person-Centred/Integrative Counsellor within a mental health setting.

The post holder will be based at our beautiful premises in Edgbaston, Birmingham.

All successful candidates will be required to attend, complete and pass all Mandatory Training.

Open Door will offer support to the successful applicant in respect of their professional development and supervision will be given in line with BACP requirements.
