Research Volunteers Wanted
Revolving Doors Agency has been commissioned by Her Majesty’s Court and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) to carry out research with people that have had recent experience of the courts process. We are trying to understand and improve the engagement of first-time and self-represented defendants across the whole process, from point of arrest through to the first trial.
We are looking for defendants aged over 18 from across England and Wales with recent experience of appearing at either a magistrates or Crown court who either:
- Have only been to court for one offence or set of offences
- Represented themselves at their last court appearance
We are looking to arrange one-to-one interviews over the next few weeks, either over the phone or through a video call (e.g. by Zoom/Skype), depending on preference. The interview will last approximately 40 minutes, and interviewees can take breaks if needed. All interviews are confidential.
If you are interested in taking part through a phone or video interview, or if you work with anyone who might be interested in taking part, then please contact our Research Manager Phil Mullen: philip.mullen[at]revolving-doors.org[dot]uk.
Please note: Anyone with an active case with the court service, or who is aged under 18, will NOT be able to take part.
