Introducing peer learning workshops for third sector leaders
In early 2020 BVSC will be running a series of free peer learning meetings for leaders in the voluntary sector. The first session is aimed at strategic leads and CEOs; the second is for emerging leaders or operational leads. These sessions will be promoted in our Weekly e-bulletin this Friday, but as a Member of BVSC we wanted to ensure that you were first to hear about them. Places are limited to 15 per session and will be allocated on a strictly first-come, first-served basis so early booking is recommended.
Time to think: Navigating change in third sector
Towards a peer support learning group for third sector leaders in Birmingham
Sessions: 09:30 – 12:30 on 22 Jan, 27 Feb and 26 Mar 2020
Ever wished there was more time to pause and reflect on the changes that are taking place within the voluntary sector, or your organisations more specifically? The last few years have been incredibly challenging for many voluntary organisations, with those in leadership positions having to work ever harder to navigate a rapidly changing environment. Day to day fire-fighting leaves little space for reflection. Is it time for some time out?
* This session is now fully booked * If you would like to be added to a waiting list please email Sophie Wilson: SophieW[at]bvsc[dot]org.
Leadership development sessions: Understanding change in the third sector
Two sessions: 10:00–12:00 and 13:00–15:00 on 31 March 2020
BVSC are working in partnership with the Third Sector Research Centre to develop a leadership development programme for the third sector in Birmingham. These pilot workshops will focus on change in the third sector.
The morning workshop will focus on understanding sources of change in third sector organisations. We will consider, for example, the extent to organisations determine their own futures or are simply subject to external forces.
The afternoon workshop will focus on exploring how different stakeholders influence and experience change, particularly considering the involvement of service users, volunteers and staff in shaping change. Lunch will be available in the middle of the day, bringing together workshop participants from both sessions.
You are welcome to join us for one or both of the workshops.
Participation is free, and reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed. You will be asked for your feedback on the workshops at the end of each session so that we can use the learning to refine future programmes. All aspiring leaders are eligible to attend, whatever your formal position within an organisation, but we envisage that these sessions will be particularly useful for those currently responsible for managing organisations, projects or services.
