With the rise in temperature we’re seeing pressures emerging with our ambulance and NHS111 telephone services. Call handlers are seeing calls for injuries relating to outdoor activities – sunburn, BBQ burns, falls/trips. There is also a rise in calls for patients with chronic breathing problems where a reminder on medication may be useful – i.e. carry your inhaler.

As always, prevention is best.

To share information with your community please use the UKHSA comms toolkit for hot weather.

If you are able to reach young adults or parents of 0-5s, please use those channels.

For those patients that need care, continue to signpost to NHS111 online for urgent care and pharmacy for non-urgent care.

Staycation assets are also available to help tourists decide which NHS service to access if they have a health concern while on holiday. There are also some materials targeting people before they go on holiday as well.
