BVSC staff appeal for children's books

Wednesday, 14 November, 2018

BVSC staff have chosen to support a grass-roots project - Kings Heath Action for Refugees - this Christmas by appealing for books and craft kits for some of the city's refugee children and young people.

Kings Heath Action for Refugees (KHAR) is a local community group who are committed to supporting refugees and asylum seekers. A not-for-profit charitable organisation working with local individuals, groups and schools to help refugees. They deliver a range of community fundraising events and promote awareness, befriending, support and solidarity for refugees and asylum seekers living in Birmingham and the Black Country, and those seeking safe passage across Europe.

The managers responsible for the families' accommodation have told us that they need more books available for the children. We would love to be able to establish a small library of books that the children can read and learn from during their stay in the accommodation. These can be anything from picture books for the little ones, to books suitable for young adults.

Books...

These can either be pre-loved books that children, family members or friends no longer read. Or you can purchase new books from high street or online retailers.

Craft items:
