As the primary voluntary sector support organisation in Birmingham, we provide support to volunteers, voluntary organisations and civil society in what is the largest single authority in Europe. Therefore our members - the people and organisations we serve - are extremely important to us.
BVSC membership is completely free of charge. It encourages the development of a voluntary sector network in Birmingham, with the latest news, events, training, funding opportunities and jobs shared with our members on a regular basis. We also encourage members to network and collaborate via the Third Sector Assembly, and we share resources and practical advice via our Transform portal.
All BVSC members are automatically signed up to our Friday e-bulletin. This is a digest of the latest third sector news, events, training, funding opportunities and jobs in Birmingham—ensuring that our members are always the first to hear about the latest developments.
BVSC’s Transform portal gives Birmingham’s voluntary sector access to a range of resources, information and tools to meet their development needs. Members gain immediate access to the portal and benefit from diagnostic tools, a comprehensive library of support documents, SkillsXchange where free business support is offered from local professional firms and much more!
Update is BVSC's free monthly Magazine for Birmingham's voluntary and community sector and is widely recognised as the number one platform for speaking to the sector. BVSC members have access to Update either in print form or an online format.
Third Sector Assembly
With full membership (see above for more details), your organisation becomes part of the Third Sector Assembly, a long-term association of third sector networks facilitated by BVSC to improve communication across the sector, to grow its ability to influence and to improve relationships with the public sector. Members have the opportunity to join specific networks within the Third Sector Assembly such as children & young people, housing, environment and many more.
Full members are also entitled to feature on the BVSC directory. This is a popular online tool used by individuals and organisations across Birmingham to search for service providers and causes to get involved with.
At BVSC we are proud to be an organisation led by its members. Full membership comes with the option to become a voting member of BVSC. Voting rights are exercised at BVSC’s AGM when we set the strategic direction of our organisation; reflecting the needs and values of our membership.
