Your organisation should have these policies and procedures in place before recruiting:
• Equal opportunities policy
• Health and safety policy
• Volunteer policy
• Volunteer induction
• Public/Employers liability insurance that covers volunteers.
We expect organisations to adhere to our Code of Conduct when recruiting and working with volunteers.
We will then publicise your opportunity and use it to match volunteers to your specific requirements. When potential volunteers see your opportunity, they will contact you using the details you have given to discuss the position.
Please note that organisations are responsible for their own recruitment and selection procedures, DBS (formerly CRB) checks and reference requests for volunteers.
Volunteer Centre Birmingham is supporting Talent Match participants to access a voluntary placement to enhance their skills and confidence to enable them to enter into the world of work. Talentmatch is a Big Lottery funded employment preparation programme for 18-24 year olds within the Solihull and Brimingham area, offering them a wrap around support service based on their individual needs. Throughout the placement individuals will receive support from their Talent Match coach and organisations will be reimbursed travel expenses and paid funding up to £280 for supporting each individual.

You are under no legal obligation to pay any expenses to volunteers. However, it is good practice to pay out of pocket expenses e.g. travel. We strongly recommend that organisations reimburse where they are able. Please note it is important for you as an organisation to only ever pay expenses that the volunteer has paid themselves, any money over this could have legal implications for yourself and the volunteer.
