Living Alone with Dementia - Managing without Informal Support Research Project A research project about understanding the needs of people with dementia who live alone and do not have someone to help them access services or act as a point of contact. This research project is based at Sheffield Hallam University in collaboration with University College London, Innovations in Dementia and Leeds Integrated Care Board. This project is about understanding the needs of people with dementia who live on their own and do not have someone to help them access services or act as a point of contact. We want to find out what help they receive and where from, how social care works for them, and how it could be improved. We are looking for people with dementia:• who live on their own (including supported accommodation but not in residential care)And• do not have a family member or friend acting as a point of contact and helping them to access services. What will happen if I take part in the study?• You will take part in either an individual interview with one of our researchers or an informal chat with 2 or 3 other people with similar experiences. This will be at a time that suits you and in a place you feel comfortable. The interview will take about 45-60 minutes. • We are looking to talk to 30 people with dementia who live on their own. • As a thank you for taking part we will offer you a £20 gift card.• We are working with Innovations in Dementia throughout this project to ensure a dementia friendly experience. You are welcome to have someone with you to support you throughout the interview.
