As an IT Support Volunteer, you will provide hands-on IT support to staff at Focus. 

Are you patient, organised, and enjoy working with others? If so, this could be the role for you. As an IT Support Volunteer, you will provide hands-on IT support to staff at Focus. The position requires good IT and computer knowledge and is confident working in a busy environment.

About Focus Birmingham
Focus Birmingham is a specialist charity providing expert support, advice and information to anyone in Birmingham with sight loss. We aim to help people with sight loss and visual impairment have an independent and rewarding life.

Background checks
This role will require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as well as two references ideally from people in professional roles.

Purpose of Role
The volunteer will provide additional IT support to Staff, Volunteers and Trustees across Focus Birmingham. The role will vary depending on the needs of Focus and what issues may arise on a day to day basis.

Typical role tasks may include
Supporting staff with adhoc IT queries including:
• Navigating an operating system and start applications
• Logging into the Learning Hub Focus Birmingham eLearning platform
• Performing basic functions of file management
• Performing basic functions in a word and excel
• Helping to resolve general technical issues

Desirable skills and experience
• Good IT skills and knowledge of computers
• Good knowledge of software packages
• Good verbal communication skills and patience
• Good attention to detail and accuracy
• Experience of working in a busy environment

Commitment level
Days of the week and times can be flexible to suit your availability. Whether you can give a couple of hours a week or several days a month, your time will make all the difference.

Training provided with include Focus Core Mandatory courses including:
• Focus Core Training
• Any additional relevant training to enable you to fulfil the role
