Who can apply?

Anyone who has an enthusiasm for education, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to use their initiative. We ask that our Academic Support volunteers have a minimum grade 4/C or higher in Maths and English.

What does the role involve?

You will be supporting students with either their homework, revision, study skills or with IntoUniversity’s structured curriculum. Sessions are free and take place after school at our centre in Kingstanding. Depending on the session, you may work one-to-one or with a group of students.

How often will I volunteer?

We have separate Academic Support sessions depending on the age of students. This is a once a week commitment for an academic term. Volunteering takes place at the following times:

Monday/Thursday for students aged 11-18, 4pm-5.30pm

Tuesday/Wednesday for students aged 7-11, 3:30pm-5pm

How do I start volunteering?

- Complete our short application form below
- Attend a training and selection session to prepare you for working with young people, including in-depth safeguarding training
- If selected to be a volunteer, you will be invited to an induction at your centre to meet your team
- This role requires an Enhanced DBS with Child Barred List check. IntoUniversity covers this cost and will support you with the application process
