Great Charles Street development brings training and employment opportunities to Birmingham City Centre John Sisk & Son has been appointed preferred contractor by Moda for the Great Charles Street neighbourhood in Birmingham City Centre.The redevelopment of Ludgate Hill Car Park, which has remained undeveloped for more than 70 years, will create 722 new homes alongside a gym, roof terraces, communal lounges, workspace, as well as a new public realm and space for retail and hospitality businesses. The three-year project will consist of a 39-storey tower plus lower rise buildings and will create hundreds of new jobs and generate £92 million gross added value to the West Midlands. The project will be delivered under the Birmingham Business Charter for Social Responsibility, which aims to boost the local economy through supporting the local supply chain and creating job opportunities. The Training Hub, 45 New Guild House, Great Charles St, BirminghamThe Training Hub will be funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), through the Construction Skills Fund. Throughout the project, Sisk will continue their successful partnerships with the WMCA and Birmingham City Council’s Employment Access Team to help maximise local employment and training opportunities across Birmingham.The Hub will support employment opportunities specifically for local people, including apprenticeships, by offering construction training and a guaranteed job interview after completing a course. There will be funded training for local people to work on this landmark project and develop valuable skills for the future.
