Are you interested in supporting young people in well being and life skills? Would you like to explore doing this through the lens of peace? Peacemakers is looking for new Associate Trainers to work with us in a freelance capacity across the West Midlands.

We are looking for people who want to become Peacemaker trainers on a freelance (self-employed) basis, working one or two days a week in term time. Our trainers run a variety of courses in primary and secondary schools, depending on their skills and interest. These include Peer Mediation training; peacebuilding courses (following our curriculum) in primary schools; small group interventions in secondary schools; restorative approaches training and training for school staff. Much of our work takes place in Birmingham, Coventry and the Black Country.

What we offer: initial training in our approach and content, followed by shadowing of existing trainers to become familiar with the work (this level is unpaid). Co-facilitating courses (paid at an introductory level). Opportunities to facilitate paid work alone. Ongoing cpd opportunities.

What you bring: a commitment to peace and non-violent approaches to conflict and the ability to model this.  

Experience in working with groups of children or young people and leading them in activities.

Knowledge of an area such as PSHE, emotional literacy or conflict resolution issues is helpful.

A familiarity with schools (desirable).

Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.  

Able to travel across the West Midlands

Youth work, theatre in education or drama work with young people, teaching or teaching assistance, informal education, facilitation, mentoring small groups, peace education, restorative practice or training, sustainable or global education etc.
