Foodcycle Birmingham is a charity who provide free food for the community we come together and sit down in a communal dining setting and save food from landfill all in all this helps to combat hunger loneliness and food waste

Foodcycle Birmingham have a range of opportunities for volunteering promise little as one hour two up to 5 hours per session, we need volunteers across all of our projects. We have currently the following projects open on a Saturday we have a project at Kingstanding at the 610 Community centre we also have West Heath project at the West Heath Community centre which operates on a Sunday and then we also have Falcon lodge Community centre on a Monday.

Within these areas, there are three main roles the first role is a surplus collector these people go to the supermarkets and they collect the food that's been donated and take it to the project.

We then have the cooks prepare the ingredients that come in and choose a menu, the menu is decided upon the day because we never know what surplus as we going to get donated these rolls are generally 5 hours long and are supported by a project leader.

Then we have hosts currently the hosting team use the remaining ingredients and make-up surplus bags for the clients they also take the details in the queue about what meals the clients would like and they take the meals to them as we currently run a takeaway service - however in the near future, we will return to communal dining and then the hosts will have the job of setting the tables and waiting on tables offering drinks and then serve the three courses as well to clients.
