Why supporting the Carers in your workforce makes business sense
Birmingham businesses are being urged to “embrace and support” carers within their organisation.
The ‘Why supporting the carers in your workforce makes business sense’ event has been organised to help employers understand how small changes can improve the wellbeing of carers within their workforce.
According to an annual survey, compiled by the national organisation Carers UK, 35 per cent of carers have resigned from their job when they became a carer and a further 10 per cent reduced their hours to fit in with their caring duties.
The winners of the Carer Friendly Business Awards Birmingham will also be announced at the event. The awards were launched for businesses across the city which have contributed to supporting carers in their community and, or, workplace.
The free breakfast event will take place on Tuesday, September 17 at the Hallmark Birmingham Strathallan on Hagley Road.
It has been set up by Forward Carers, a West Midlands-based carer support service.
