Volunteering in Birmingham: Building a Shared Way Forward

As a part of Volunteers' Week 2019, we are delighted to invite all volunteer-involving social action organisations in Birmingham to Volunteering in Birmingham: Building a Shared Way Forward, a morning of discussion and co-production around the future of volunteering in the city.

The focus of the event will be on working together to articulate a collective Birmingham voice around this issue into 2020 and beyond - a voice which champions the role of volunteering in tackling the city's biggest challenges, strengthens the argument for strong volunteering support, influences the direction of future volunteering policy, and advocates for how collective voluntary action can help deliver the best possible social outcomes for Birmingham's citizens.

Our invitation extends to leaders in the voluntary sector, volunteer coordinators, volunteers and active citizens, representatives from the public sector, and private sector bodies which actively support employee volunteering.

Needless to say, this event will also be a great opportunity to network with and learn from colleagues old and new.
Speakers, discussion and co-production opportunities will focus on:

  • Forms of volunteering in 2020 - what does our city need?
  • The voice of volunteering - how our expert volunteers and organisations can set a better volunteering agenda.
  • Barriers and opportunities - how can we get on with our valuable work?
  • How to support a voluntary sector that best supports Birmingham's volunteers.

...along with anything else you'd like to discuss!

We very much hope you will be able to join us, and I look forward to welcoming you on the day.
