Just about managing: an essential skills programme for front line and middle managers

The programme consists of two half day group sessions (Day One 10 February, Day Two 9 March) exploring the essentials of managing yourself with the follow up session dealing with the fundamentals of managing others.  These sessions are supplemented with two individual coaching/mentoring sessions which will reinforce learning and the development of new skills within the individuals work context.

Content includes:

  • Being a role model at work
  • Influencing within your organisation
  • Managing time/productivity to better lead your team
  • Developing communication skills for face to face, telephone and emails
  • Using coaching as a line manager tool
  • Delegation skills and how to avoid inappropriate delegation to you
  • Managing performance and helping staff to hit target.

This programme which  two half day workshops and two 45 minute individual coaching sessions for each delegate. Individual coaching sessions take place via the telephone. Refreshments (tea/coffee and biscuits) are provided.  The venue is fully accessible. However, please make us aware of any access or dietary requirements in advance as we will do our very best to meet individual needs to ensure a great training experience for all delegates.

Who runs this training?

The trainer for this session is Rob Legge. Rob has been an independent coach and trainer for six years. Prior to that he was the CEO of Focus Birmingham for ten years. He set up and ran the national Community Services Directorate at Sense, was Head of Shops at Oxfam and a Regional Fundraising Director for RNIB. Rob has also been a governor at a special school in Birmingham and volunteers at a local arts centre, and with his wife is a host for Redditch Nightstop helping young homeless people.

Rob's training style is highly participative and is based on his practical experience of over 30 years of management in the voluntary sector.

Over the last three years more than 250 managers have participated in this programme.  Its unique mixture of group training and individual coaching ensures each participant gains maximum learning and is able to directly relate this to their own working context.
