The Birmingham Public Health Division would like to invite you to the upcoming launch of our first Community Health Profile focusing on the Sikh community.

The event will be hosted via MS Teams on 27th September from 18:00 - 19:30. Please sign up to the event here

Please circulate this event to all relevant contacts, organisations and stakeholders.

As part of the Public Health Division’s work to improve the understanding of the diverse communities of Birmingham, we are developing a series of short evidence summaries to improve awareness of these communities and their needs.

The Community Health Profiles provide desktop analysis of published evidence, grey literature and population survey data within a specific community of focus. The profiles are designed to provide a snapshot of the inequalities that exist within the community, which will be shared across Birmingham City Council and externally across Birmingham.

The Sikh Community Health Profile identifies and summarises the national and local evidence concerning the health, lifestyle behaviours and wider determinants of health that affect Sikh Communities. The external launch will be sharing the key findings from the Sikh Community Health Profile, specifically the health inequalities that are experienced by our Sikh community in Birmingham. The launch will also signpost attendees to the location of the final health report, infographics and translated resources that can be accessed. For the Sikh profile, we have chosen to translate the documents into Punjabi to allow information to become more accessible and wide-reaching to members of the Sikh community.

We aim for representation from Councillors, MPs and Sikh community leaders, helping key information to be disseminated around Birmingham. This can be essential for achieving Birmingham’s ambition for a bolder healthier city, becoming a city in which, every citizen can live a healthy enjoyable life. We hope that the external launch can encourage partners and communities to take action to close the gaps and improve the health of Sikh citizens in Birmingham.

We hope you can join us for the event.
